About the Opportunity:
We are looking to recruit a 12-month industrial placement student in the Data Science & AI function, located in Cambridge, UK. The successful candidate will join the Scientific Tools & Solutions team and work alongside wet and dry lab scientists to generate new experimental data and develop bespoke software tools for its analysis deliver new insights and drive decision making in the drug development process and ultimately improve the lives of patients.
The placement will allow you to develop your wet lab techniques whilst also building a strong foundation for software development that you will use to analyse this data and present to our stakeholders and the wider team. This experience may give you exposure to programming techniques in Python, Java and web development, and provide a real-world environment to put software development techniques into practice. You will enhance the soft skills required to effectively manage your time, collaborate with peers and learn on-the-go.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
Required:
Currently undertaking an Undergraduate Biology or Computer Science degree (or something relatable), and permission to undertake a year in industry placement for the academic year starting September 2026.
Display clear interest in the topic and a can-do attitude to solving problems.
Demonstrable aptitude for programming and developing software
Nice to have:
Cover letter detailing any examples of university / personal projects that show your interest in the field.
